Dear John,
Moments ago, President Biden made history by announcing Ketanji Brown Jackson as his nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Jackson of the important D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals is the first Black woman ever to be nominated, making this is an exciting and historic moment for our country. We celebrate the nomination and look forward to celebrating her confirmation!
Support our work to put Ketanji Brown Jackson on the bench.
Judge Jackson’s superb judicial record and legal career shows that she will protect the rights of all, not just the rich and powerful. Her experience as a public defender and a member of the U.S. Sentencing Commission signals an intimate understanding of the criminal legal system and its impact on middle class and working people. Judge Jackson has also consistently demonstrated a commitment to respecting the rights of all people, including in cases involving persons with disabilities, workers, and immigrants.
Read our in-depth report on Judge Jackson’s experience, qualifications, and judicial record here.
Unfortunately, before she was even announced, conservatives already began questioning Judge Jackson’s qualifications solely because she was a Black woman and would be nominated by President Biden. She deserves to serve on the Supreme Court—and we’ll be there to make sure she is confirmed. We’re ready to fight for Judge Jackson at every step of the process.
AFJ will play a unique role in the weeks and months ahead. We will mobilize our member organizations and progressive grassroots constituencies to take action in support of the nominee, and we will use all of our communications channels to counter baseless attacks from the right. We will also inform the public of what a Justice Jackson would mean on the issues that matter to so many millions of people.
Celebrate this nomination and power AFJ forward with a donation today. $25, $100, $250—any amount you can contribute will make a difference.
We’re just getting started. Be on the lookout in the days and weeks ahead for updates on our work and actions you can take to support this remarkable nominee.
With gratitude,
