It’s official, John!
President Biden has nominated U.S. D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to succeed Justice Breyer and serve as the first Black woman on the Supreme Court!
Not only will Judge Jackson be the first Black woman on the Supreme Court – she’ll be the first former public defender on the Court and the first justice since Thurgood Marshall with criminal defense experience. She will be a fierce advocate for the American people — not just the corporations and special interests who have benefitted from years of a Republican-controlled Court.
Now more than ever, we need voices like Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s on the Supreme Court to counter the blatant racism and sexism fueling the right-wing justices’ attacks on our fundamental rights.
The Senate must move immediately to confirm her and take a major step towards ensuring the Supreme Court is truly reflective of the country it serves.
