Also Tuesday, GOP women traveled to Israel to strengthen international ties. Reps. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24), Michelle Steel (CA-45), Rep. Ashley Hinson (IA-02), Rep. Young Kim (CA-40), and Rep. Kat Cammack (FL-03) all made the trip.
Wednesday, Iowa leaders applauded the announcement that Gov. Kim Reynolds (IA) will deliver the Republican rebuttal to Biden's state of the union address. Gov. Reynolds tweeted, "I’m very honored and grateful for this opportunity to speak to the American people!"
Thursday, Russia invaded Ukraine. Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley responded to the crisis shortly after President Putin declared the start of a “special military operation.”

Axios: Biden announces sanctions to "maximize a long-term impact on Russia". The sanctions "are going to impose severe costs on the Russian economy both immediately and over time," Biden said. "We have purposely designed these sanctions to maximize a long-term impact on Russia and to minimize the impact on the United States and our allies."

Roll Call: In Virginia, GOP has openings in new Biden-Youngkin districts. Virginia Republicans caught the country’s attention when Glenn Youngkin captured the commonwealth’s governorship in 2021. The GOP hopes to continue the trend by picking up a House seat or two in the 2022 midterm elections as it seeks a net gain of five seats to take the majority.
CNN: Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds to deliver GOP response to Biden's State of the Union address. The speech will give Reynolds a prominent national platform to speak to the country and counter Biden's message. It comes as Republicans work to make their case to the American public ahead of pivotal midterm elections that will determine which party controls the House and Senate.
