Nearly 2000 people have signed the petition

John,

I need your help.

I set the goal of getting 2,000 signatures for my petition to fund a safe shelter for the homeless in Hobart by Friday evening.

We're so close! We just need 250 more signatures.

Can you take 30 seconds to sign the petition? This is an opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives.

What's this all about?

You've probably seen one of my previous emails about this issue. But if you've missed it, here's the deal.

There are up to 200 people sleeping on the streets of Hobart every night. In other cities, good people working together have set up “safe shelters” for those sleeping rough.

They offer people a place off the streets for a night, where they can safely store their possessions, watch a movie, play a board game, or just rest, with a warm blanket, with food in the belly, with a roof over their heads.

I've spoken to the experts. We can have a shelter up and running before Christmas. There's a project proposal on the table. All that's needed is a cheque.

There is no safe shelter in Hobart. The way I see it, everyone deserves a roof over their head. Especially at Christmas.

Will you stand with me and the most vulnerable people in our society and sign the petition?

I reckon you will, because you're a bloody legend.

Jacqui
