This morning, Ukrainians woke up to the brutal, terrifying reality of war.

Canada is unequivocal in our condemnation of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified attack on the sovereign, democratic state of Ukraine.

We stand united and steadfast in our support of Ukraine’s sovereignty. And we stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people’s right to decide their own future in a free and democratic state.

Today, Justin Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, Mélanie Joly, and Anita Anand spoke about the steps being taken and the new sanctions being imposed in response to Russia’s unjustified invasion. You can watch the full remarks here:
