Running a transparent, ethical, and responsible grassroots fundraising program has been a cornerstone for us here at DAGA. Part of that is monitoring and acknowledging what is happening in the world around us and knowing when not to ask for money. This weekend is one of those times.
Speaking frankly here – this midterm year scares the hell out of me. The attacks we’re seeing on our democracy here at home endanger our fundamental rights, our health, and our safety. We are doing everything we can at DAGA to make sure that on November 8, 2022, good people with good intentions who are committed to doing good work are elected to office to serve and defend all of us.
Campaigns and organizations across the board are struggling to raise the resources they need to win. Here at DAGA, our end-of-month fundraising drives and deadlines play a huge part in helping us raise what we need to keep fighting.
But this weekend, we’re canceling the four emails we had planned. We’re not going to talk about how much ground we have to make up or the goals we’re trying to reach by midnight on Monday like we normally would. Because right now, there simply are other things that need and deserve your attention.
We once again find ourselves navigating scary, stressful, and unprecedented world events — and we are all part of a larger community that is going through this together.
We have a lot of work to do to elect and defend Democratic AGs this year, so we’ll be back to our normal email programming soon. In the meantime, just know that we are here with you in solidarity and friendship. And to anyone who has been personally affected by the crisis in Ukraine, we see you and we hear you.
