Team, did you catch Ayanna’s email from earlier?

This morning, she introduced a bold, progressive vision to completely dismantle our country’s racist, xenophobic, rogue system of mass incarceration.

Her legislation is rooted in the principles of shared power, safety, freedom, human dignity, and equality. The People’s Justice Guarantee would decriminalize sex work, end the death penalty and solitary confinement, restore voting rights to people who are currently incarcerated, and so much more.

If you believe in Ayanna’s transformative vision for the future, make a donation right now to support the People’s Justice Guarantee.

Original message from Ayanna Pressley:

Team,

Our criminal legal system is racist, xenophobic, rogue, and fundamentally broken. That’s why I just introduced The People’s Justice Guarantee — to dismantle and radically transform our system of mass incarceration through a large-scale decarceration effort.

Together, we can achieve a progressive vision for our criminal legal system that focuses on early intervention, prioritizes rehabilitation over incarceration and punishment, and provides a clear pathway for formerly incarcerated individuals to reintegrate into society.

Please add your name right now to become a Grassroots Co-sponsor of The People’s Justice Guarantee and join our movement to dismantle our system of mass incarceration.

This issue is deeply personal for me: like one in four children in the MA-07, I grew up with a parent in and out of the legal system, and my family experienced the trauma of a system that criminalized addiction.

I have devoted my life to fighting for transformational change in a system that is fundamentally unjust, and continues to disproportionately impact low-income people and people of color, and to create trauma in entire communities

My work has always been in the pursuit of justice. Justice for my district, Justice for survivors, Justice for the marginalized, and Justice for the American people. Today, I am proud to introduce a vision for a criminal legal system rooted in shared power, freedom, equality, safety, and human dignity. The People’s Justice Guarantee would:

Dramatically Reduce Jail and Prison Populations:

- End the death penalty,
- Decriminalize sex work,
- Legalize marijuana and overdose prevention sites,
- End solitary confinement,
- Allow transgender people to be housed in accordance with their gender identity.

Eliminate Wealth-Based Discrimination and Corporate Profiteering:

- Prohibit private companies from profiting off incarceration and immigrant detention, including the forced labor of incarcerated people, which is a modern form of slavery.

Invest in Impacted Communities:

- Stop the transfer of military equipment to local police and refocus resources to dramatically increase clearance (or solve) rates for the most serious crimes – shootings, homicides, domestic and sexual violence.

Together we can create a legal system that is rooted in serving our communities, not profiting from the mass incarceration of black and brown bodies. But I need you in this fight with me.

Add your name now to say that you support The People’s Justice Guarantee.
