John,
There’s been a lot going on in North Carolina lately. I know it can be exhausting to keep up with it all. Let me break down where we’re at as of today.
Just after noon yesterday, the trial court accepted the State House and Senate maps and rejected the Congressional maps drawn by the legislature. When they threw out the Congressional maps, they offered a new map, drawn by the special masters. Late yesterday, all three maps were appealed to the North Carolina Supreme Court by varying entities. Late last night, the State Supreme Court issued a decision that they would decline to take up the appeals or place a stay on filing. This means that we *finally* have definitive Congressional and State House and Senate maps. Filing opened today at 8am.
It’s been a long process, with filing halted twice, several different maps proposed, and the primary date being pushed back from March to May. But, we’re finally set.
As such, I will be filing for NC Congressional District 4 on Monday. I have been honored and humbled by the outpouring of support within this district. I’m ready to get through filing and hit the ground running.
Please, consider showing our campaign support today by pitching in what you can. Every dollar makes a difference.
