FOSTER
Dear John,

Jubilee, a 6-month-old kitten, was on death’s doorstep when she came to PAWS Chicago Medical Center— the largest and most advanced hospital for homeless pets in the country.

“You could tell by looking at her she had a fractured leg that was practically broken in half. But then we did more extensive testing and saw so many more things that had to be dealt with,” said Susanna Homan, CEO of PAWS Chicago, in a news story about Jubilee’s survival against the odds.

Not only did Jubilee have partially broken bones, but she was also diagnosed with a dangerous virus known as panleukemia. This highly contagious virus is often a death sentence for cats at other shelters–to avoid spread & contaminations, cats are often euthanized.

After surgical repair of her leg and lots of supportive care to help her body fight the panleuk virus, Jubilee is now on her way to making a full recovery—all thanks to our transformative Medical Center.

Applications Open for Summer Internships

Last year, Katrina Nishoioka participated in the PAWS Summer Internship while studying Human Resources and Management at Loyola University.

“I love animals and wanted to grow professionally while also having fun. The biggest educational benefit was working hands-on with the staff and volunteers. Plus, the team customized my experience to fit my major,” said Katrina.

Katrina has taken part in other internships, but PAWS definitely stood out.

“It was my absolute favorite internship. The staff truly wants to help you grow and will support you throughout your career. If you love animals, are looking for a wonderful team, and want a unique experience, the PAWS Chicago internship is the right choice for you,” says Katrina.
