Democratic leadership should NOT be supporting the most conservative, anti-choice Democrat in the House.

Justice Democrats

John,

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is backing corporate-backed, anti-choice Democrat Henry Cuellar in his primary against Justice Democrat Jessica Cisneros. This shows just how afraid the Democratic establishment is of progressives like Jessica and the Squad.

Cuellar was one of the few House Democrats to delay and derail Build Back Better. That piece of legislation was 90% of Joe Biden’s agenda, it would have expanded the social safety net, and invested in the fight against climate change. But Henry Cuellar was more interested in serving his corporate donors than passing Build Back Better. Why is a Democratic leader in the House supporting an obstructionist?

Henry Cuellar is the sole anti-abortion Democrat in the House. Party leaders should welcome the chance to oust him and elect Jessica, a fighter for working people, abortion rights, and the environment.

Last election cycle, House Speaker Pelosi backed Cuellar against Jessica, even though Cuellar was still the conservative anti-abortion obstructionist he’s always been. The Democratic establishment will line up against Justice Democrats in order to maintain the status quo, even if it means protecting Democrats like Cuellar BLOCKING the Democratic agenda.

Speaker Pelosi has already campaigned for at least one of our opponents this cycle, Rep. Danny Davis in Illinois. We have to win our primaries in Texas on Tuesday AND build our campaigns so we’re ready to win four more primaries against the establishment later in the year.

Can you help us strengthen our fight, John? Donate $3 today and help us build strong progressive primary campaigns and transform the Democratic Party. We’re up against big money, corporations, and the Democratic establishment, so we need your grassroots support today.
