The Republican-controlled redistricting commission failed to produce maps that reflect the political realities of our state for the third time. Mike DeWine is now in overdrive, doing as much damage control as possible. But we have the receipts to prove just how out of touch DeWine is about the redistricting process:
From October 2018…
“The rules are pretty clear -- the voters said that the redistricting process should be done in a bipartisan way and when I am governor there will be an expectation that the new district maps honor the voters’ wishes,”
-- Mike DeWine to The Cincinnati Enquirer
To January 2022…
“Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and his cronies gerrymander again, but will the Supreme Court stop them?”
-- Cleveland.com (1/24/2022)
It's clear: DeWine had every opportunity to do his job to produce fair maps. Instead, he slapped Ohioans in the face, crumbled to political pressure, and caved to the extreme rightwing of the Ohio Republican Party.
Our maps are being held in limbo as the DeWine-led redistricting committee continues to refuse to comply with the Ohio Supreme Court's orders. If this isn't further proof it's time to vote DeWine out, we don't know what is.
Can we count on your support in the fight to defeat Mike DeWine in November? We set a goal to raise $10,000 before Monday at midnight to help fight for a blue Ohio in 2022. Make a donation of $5 or more today.
