Hello John,

Since day one of the pandemic, I have been committed to following the science and trusting public health professionals when it comes to COVID-19 decisions. That is why I am confident in our decision to lift Chicago's mask and vaccine requirements for certain public spaces starting February 28th.

I'd like to thank Chicagoans and, in particular, our business community for adhering to these measures and helping us make it through these difficult two years while keeping restaurants and other businesses open.

These emergency measures were instituted to protect the health and safety of our residents, and they did just that. Key data is showing that the worst of the Omicron surge is behind us.

Thanks to your support, we have put the best practices in place to move forward as we emerge from the pandemic with a brighter, and more inclusive future ahead. I'm ready to keep fighting for science-backed solutions that put Chicagoans first. Will you help me do just that by chipping in?

Thank you for all that you do,

— Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot
