We have worked with her for many years in the state legislature to protect our air, land and water, and grow Maine's renewable energy economy, and are excited to hear about LCV Action Fund’s endorsement.

We want you to know that the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund is proudly endorsing Sara Gideon for election to the U.S. Senate from Maine.
"Protecting our environment and fighting climate change are some of the most pressing challenges we face," said Gideon, Speaker of the Maine House of Representatives. "Here in Maine, we took bold action to create an example for what can be done across the nation to fight climate change, move towards a clean and renewable energy system, protect our essential industries and boost our economy. That's exactly the kind of action we need at the federal level, and that's why I'm running. I'm so proud to have the support of the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund."
Before she was elected to Maine's House of Representatives, Gideon was a town councilor in Freeport, where she pushed for a ban on pesticide use on public green spaces. She was elected to the Maine House of Representatives in 2012 and elected by her colleagues to serve as Speaker in 2016. As Speaker, Gideon shepherded crucial environmental bills through the legislature including legislation to address climate change, promote renewable energy, and ban offshore drilling in Maine. In the U.S. Senate, Gideon will continue fighting to protect Mainers and Maine's pristine environment from climate change and pollution. Speaker Gideon has earned a stellar 96% lifetime score on Maine Conservation Voters' Environmental Scorecard.
The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund's endorsement program seeks to elect environmental champions who will address the climate crisis and advance a more equitable clean energy future. LCV Action Fund seeks to endorse candidates that are reflective of the diverse communities and identities across the country. As people of color, women, LGBTQ-identifying people, and Indigenous communities are vastly underrepresented at all levels of government, LCV Action Fund is committed to working alongside diverse environmental champions to elevate these leaders to elected office to invest in clean energy, strengthen clean air and water safeguards, protect our public lands, and more. Endorsing candidates who understand the needs and experiences of their constituents is critical to fighting for legislation that puts communities ahead of polluter interests.
The pro-environment House majority is making climate action a priority, but polluters are pumping money into races across the country and deniers still control the Senate and White House. We need more people like Sara Gideon in Congress who will stand up and protect public health and the environment and fight for climate action, and she needs the help of LCVAF supporters like you.
