Huge Republican Victory in Jacksonville

Republican Nick Howland wins decisively to flip seat

Democrats and their national corporate media partners thought they could use a Democrat winning a Jacksonville City Council seat to gin up the narrative of a positive bellwether for Democrats in the midterms — despite the seat previously being held by a Democrat. The Democrat candidate had gubernatorial hopefuls Charlie Crist, Nikki Fried and Annette Taddeo all campaigning for her, and Joe Biden won Duval County in 2020.

But Democrats and the media were sorely mistaken.

The national story died on the vine.

Strong Republican coordination on the ground with door-knocking, a GOTV campaign and supportive veterans groups, backed with a robocall by Governor DeSantis and endorsement by Senator Rick Scott, helped propel Republican Nick Howland to a decisive 52-48 percent victory.

Democrats are bogged down by their support of unpopular woke policies such as defunding police, teaching critical race theory, pushing gender confusion on grade school children and pushing so-called social justice remedies that are little more than a mask for racism. Jacksonville and Duval voters definitively showed they want nothing to do with that.

To be clear, the victory was not due to lackluster turnout, as is normal in a run-off election. Howland and his opponent were the top two vote-getters in a December 7 election where only 12.6 percent of registered voters went to the polls. But Tuesday’s run-off rocketed up to 20 percent voter turnout, with Republicans outpacing Democrats.

The American people are deeply unhappy with the Democrat leadership, or lack of leadership, in Washington, and it is staining all Democratic candidates. And Republicans are energized, which we are witnessing in local elections, and simply have a message that resonates with Floridians and Americans.

Miami Herald goes off the cliff

The sad saga of once great American newspapers sounding like ridiculous middle school children drunk on critical race theory continues unabated.

A Sunday editorial in the Miami Herald, whose credibility just spirals into the abyss, editorialized that Governor DeSantis is a full-throated racist of the Jim Crow days. Sure, this is all-in support of their fellow woke Democrats, but it is pretty amazing how little substance they actually use to support their charges.

The editorial is filled with such unhinged accusations as the Governor being “a continuation of Donald Trump’s white-resentment politics.” And “If DeSantis’ ‘monkey this up’ comment was a dog whistle to white voters, his actions in office can be considered a blast from a bugle.” And “While DeSantis stokes racial fears, the black Floridians he also represents are deprived of a public education that takes their life experiences into consideration.”

The irony of the editorial is that virtually every charge they make is exactly what Democrats are doing. They speak of Governor DeSantis supposedly stoking racial fears while they empty a gasoline tanker truck on race relations. They speak of depriving black Floridians of public education as if the Governor didn’t win in 2018 with the help of single, black moms who wanted vouchers for their children’s education. The Governor supports black parents over the school union chiefs who back Democrats.

Here’s our prediction: Despite the histrionics of angry radicals at newspapers, Governor DeSantis will increase his support from black Floridians.

After federal denial of tornado aid, Governor DeSantis takes action

The Biden administration has denied aid to these Floridians ravaged by tornadoes January 16.

Now that the Biden Administration has denied Florida’s request for assistance to people impacted by devastating tornadoes that touched down in Charlotte and Lee counties January 16, Governor DeSantis and the Florida Division of Emergency Management launched a donation portal to provide immediate relief for disaster survivors impacted by the tornadoes.

“We cannot continue waiting on the federal government to provide relief to these Floridians,” Governor DeSantis said. “After meeting with survivors last week, it’s clear they still need our help. We’ve helped community leaders launch this portal to expedite assistance for impacted residents and we’re going to ensure they get help.”

The state of Florida is partnering with the Charlotte Community Foundation to collect and disburse donations for disaster survivors. All donations made through the portal are tax deductible.

Senator Rubio explains how Americans will be impacted by Ukraine crisis

Senator Rubio was on CBS Mornings to discuss the Ukraine Russia crisis and gave an insightful breakdown of how the conflict will directly affect Americans — while urging American leadership not to involve American soldiers in Ukraine.

- One, the price of oil, which will be felt at the pump in higher prices, as Russia is a major producer.

- Two, Ukraine is one of the largest agricultural producers in the world of wheat and corn, which will increase our food prices at a time when Bidenflation is already spinning up prices.

- Three, Ukraine is the leading producer of neon gas, which is necessary to the production of semiconductors, which are in so many of our items today. About 90 percent of the neon gas for semiconductors made in America comes from Ukraine.

- Four, we get key components for many of our commercial space launches from Russia.

$1 million to Moore Haven for rural infrastructure

Continuing to invest in the long-term future of rural Floridians, Governor DeSantis awarded more than $1 million to the City of Moore Haven to enhance the downtown area and attract new development, creating new jobs and improving the local economy.

The City of Moore Haven will use the money to complete roadway and stormwater improvements that will mitigate recurring flooding and prevent pollutants from entering the Caloosahatchee River Basin Estuary.

“Our rural communities are the backbone of our state, and I will continue fighting for these communities,” Governor DeSantis said. “This infrastructure funding will help the Moore Haven area support current residents, protect the environment and better prepare for future growth.”

“This project will not only bring jobs to Glades County, but will create a foundation for generational economic growth,” said Florida Lottery Secretary John F. Davis, a Lake Okeechobee area native. “With the Governor’s support, we will continue to invest in projects that have a lasting impact on rural economies.”
