Dear John,

In honor of Black History Month, we’ve been sharing a series about barrier-breaking Black women whose leadership and activism has changed and continues to change the world. This has been a timely reflection as we look forward to President Biden nominating a Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court and look back on our celebration of Black Girl Freedom Fund Week.

Think about the amazing Black women and girls you know – the everyday, often unsung heroes who are doing the work day in and day out to lead the charge for equity and justice. In what ways can we better support them? How can we better support their well-being?

In solidarity,

Ruth McFarlane, Chief Advancement Officer

Ms. in the News

A new article in the Associated Press details how abortion funds, foundations, and others are meeting the surge in demand for abortion support and access, including the Ms. Foundation’s rapid response grant to Access Reproductive Care-Southeast to help provide financial and logistical support for Southerners seeking abortions.

In Global Giving, the Ms. Foundation was listed as a Black-led nonprofit to support during Black History Month and beyond for our work at the intersection of race and gender.

Upcoming Panel Discussion: The Equal Rights Amendment in the 21st Century

Join us for the second program in our three-part series, The Fight for Gender Justice, presented in partnership with the Birnbaum Women’s Leadership Network (BWLN) at NYU School of Law and the ERA Project at Columbia Law’s Center for Gender and Sexuality Law.

“The Equal Rights Amendment in the 21st Century” panel discussion will be held virtually on Tuesday, March 8 at 6:00 p.m ET. After an introduction by Ms. Foundation President and CEO Teresa C. Younger, the panel will convene top advocates and scholars of the ERA to explore how individual advocates, organizations, law students, attorneys, and others can help pass this long-pending amendment with wide-ranging implications for inclusive gender justice.
