As Russia invades Ukraine, urgent action is needed to support feminist activists on the ground

Dear John,

Today, Thursday, February 24, 2022, Russian troops invaded Ukraine ([link removed]) , attacking the country from all sides. Blasts are being heard across the country as civilians begin a mass evacuation, trying to escape the country before all out war breaks out.

For women’s and gender rights movements, risks are rising as the feminist movement is deeply impacted by this invasion.

UAF is committed to supporting women, trans, and nonbinary activists on the ground in and surrounding Ukraine by providing flexible funding and security support. ([link removed]) We are responding to requests from groups and individuals seeking:
* Support with emergency evacuations and relocations;
* Legal, financial, and medical support;
* Security and disaster survival training;
* Increasing shelter capacities for children, women, and all other civilians; and
* Access to alternative communication channels, mobile internet, power banks, VPNs, proxy, spare phones, and tablets

We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine who are under attack. We stand ready to support the movements of the women and LGBTQI+ people in Ukraine who have always been under attack. We ask that you support us to meet the needs and challenges of this crisis.
