Before I start, I want to thank you for joining my campaign. My name is Mikie Sherrill -- I’m a mother of four, a former Navy pilot, and currently the representative for New Jersey’s 11th District.

When I ran for office I promised to bring your thoughts, concerns, and priorities to Congress and get something done. The days of watching your representative sit back and allow business to go on as usual are long gone.

I entered Congress in the first class ever to begin during a government shutdown. It was the kind of inability to govern that makes Americans infuriated with Washington and it was a prime example of what I pledged to fight against.

We were able to make a difference together. We built a coalition in Congress to pass a bipartisan, bicameral bill to keep our government open. We've made progress on a bipartisan effort to require background checks for all gun sales, improving veterans services at the VA, and appropriated $650 million for Northeast rail.

When we work together we can keep the issues we care about on the front-burner in Washington.
