John,
We have good news and bad news today.
First, the good news… In just over one year in office, Cori has made her mark in Congress. She has passed over 20 pieces of legislation, introduced bold, progressive bills like the Green New Deal for Cities and the People's Response Act, and led a five-day action outside of the Capitol to call for an eviction moratorium.
It's more than clear that in order to transform our politics and finally address the crises everyday people are facing, we need Cori in Congress. And that work starts with re-electing her this year.
Now, the bad news… keeping Cori in Congress won't be easy. Multiple opponents have already filed to run against Cori in the Democratic primary and more challengers could announce any day.
In 2020, Cori made history and became the first Black woman elected to represent Missouri in Congress — but it all came down to just 3 points and a few thousand votes, so we're not taking anything for granted.
John, in order to keep Cori in Congress, we need the campaign infrastructure to reach every single voter in Missouri's First District. Please, will you chip in $5 or more right now to ensure we have the resources to re-elect Cori?
The harsh truth is that Republican super PACs and the far-right will come after Cori this year in an effort to weaken our progressive coalition and Democratic majority. In 2020, over $20 million was spent attacking Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar.
We might not have unlimited funds at our disposal, but we have something even better — this grassroots team. And at the end of the day, we have the message that motivates voters and Cori has the track record of a dedicated representative.
John, our primary election is just over five months away, so we need to do the work NOW to ensure historic turnout for Cori on Election Day.
Thank you,
Team Cori
