WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS:
Beating Apathy
Are you beating your head against the wall trying to get other workers involved? This workshop is for you. Hear success stories from those who’ve turned their workplaces around and turned apathy into action. Learn practical organizing tools for engaging your co-workers, taking action, and getting results.
Assembling Your Dream Team
Your workplace may feel like an unorganized mess, but the truth is you’re not starting from zero. There’s organization there already—though it might have nothing to do with the union. Learn how to map out the existing networks in your workplace, identify the leaders in those networks, and then knit them together into an organizing committee.
Turning an Issue into a Campaign
Everybody has complaints and frustrations, but an organizer has the power to turn problems into opportunities. Learn how to sort through the issues you hear from co-workers, bring people together, and make a plan to solve them.

Virginia Progressive Leadership Project
My name's Nico, and I'm the Leadership Development Manager at the Virginia Civic Engagement Table. I'm reaching out because the Virginia Progressive Leadership Project (VAPLP) is accepting applications for our upcoming cohort, and we'd love you and your members to join us.
VAPLP is an experiential learning & training program for community leaders & organizers that occurs throughout four weekends May - August. It provides participants with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need to strengthen their work advancing equity & social justice in Virginia. With a priority towards BIPOC, womxn & nonbinary folx, and young people, we're looking for our next pod of participants. Applications are due Friday, April 8th. The program is offered at no-cost to participants, and includes travel stipends, food, lodging, language interpretation, and childcare services. You can learn more about the program here. Also attached is a one-pager that has more information. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.
Could you please share this program with your members? There is a marketing pack here, which includes email messaging, newsletter blurbs, and a social pack to easily broadcast with your community.
If you have someone in mind who could benefit from this program, please let us know by nominating them.
Thank you so much, and I hope to hear from you soon.
Best,
Nico
