From Health Affairs
Dear John,
Health Affairs is seeking an Editor-in-Chief
to help
develop and launch a new open access journal called Health Affairs
Scholar.
Spatial Access To Hospital Services
In the February 2022 issue, Racism & Health, Jan Eberth and coauthors
reveal that rural ZIP codes with the largest shares of Black or American
Indian/Alaska Native residents are significantly farther
from many hospital services than rural ZIP codes with large majorities
of White residents.
"Policy levers for reducing inequities in access to hospital services
are present at both the state and federal levels," Eberth and coauthors
argue.
Their findings are illustrated in an interactive StoryMap
to accompany the research, creating a digital map that enables readers
to engage with these findings in a new way.
The StoryMap provides a deeper look into the geographical impacts of
racism on health care service use.
Elsewhere At Health Affairs
Today in Health Affairs Forefront, Joseph Kannarkat and coauthors
investigate infrastructure innovations
that could improve access to health care in rural settings.
The authors investigate examples of frugal innovations in lower-and
middle-income countries that could work in the current rural American
context, and explore opportunities to encourage the adoption of these
innovations.
