Both of these races could come down to just a handful of votes. Jessica Mason launched her campaign more than a year ago and has been diligently building relationships with voters for the last 12 months.
When the incumbent announced her retirement after more than 30 years, the field quickly became crowded. Now Jessica is facing a possible run-off if she doesn’t secure more than 50% of the vote.
Jessica Cisneros shocked the political establishment when, as a first time candidate in 2020, she came within 3 points of beating entrenched conservative Democrat, Henry Cuellar.
Cuellar, one of the last anti-abortion Democrats in Congress, enjoys support from a range of dark money groups. Now he’s under federal investigation, and the race has firmly shifted in Jessica’s favor.
Both of these women stand to make history. Jessica Cisneros would be the first Latina to represent this sprawling border district with a massive immigrant community, and the youngest Latina elected to Congress if she wins.
Jessica Mason would be one of the youngest Black women to serve in the House and the first Black woman veteran elected to Congress if she wins.
