What’s at stake in this election is the future of the criminal and juvenile justice systems in Iowa.

That may sound like an overstatement, but it’s not.

Polk County is the largest county in Iowa with nearly half a million people. The Polk County Attorney determines criminal and juvenile justice policy for those Iowans.

The current County Attorney, John Sarcone, has been in office for over 3 decades, having run unopposed in every election since his first.

Here are some of the hallmarks of his tenure as Polk County Attorney-

The time for change is NOW.

Do you believe the next 30 years should look a lot different than the past 30? As Polk County Attorney, I want to eliminate racial and income disparities, focus on serious and violent crime, and stop focusing on nonviolent, low level offenses, the prosecution of which does not make us safer.

We need racial, social, economic and restorative justice if we are to build a truly just, justice system.

I cannot do this alone. We need donations in order to buy yard signs, literature to hang on doors and ad time. We also need volunteer hours to reach voters.

No dollar amount is too little or time volunteered too small. Everything helps! Please donate and/or volunteer if you’re able. And please share our social media posts with your circle of friends. It helps the campaign more than you know. Thank you!

If we want a better justice system, the time is now.

Thanks,
Kimberly
