Biden Immigration Score Card Notes Progress, Challenges 

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Ahead of President Biden’s State of the Union address, a new resource from the National Immigration Forum looks at how the administration has performed so far — and what more needs to be done.  

The Forum’s Score Card on President Biden’s First Year in Office evaluates the administration’s progress on five key immigration priorities. Moreover, it outlines additional steps the administration can take to provide opportunities for earned legalization, expand legal immigration, treat vulnerable migrants with compassion, provide effective border security and enforce immigration laws judiciously. 

"The actions of the previous administration, coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, have made meaningful immigration solutions a formidable challenge," said Danilo Zak, Policy and Advocacy Manager at the National Immigration Forum and author of the score card. "The Biden administration has taken some positive steps, but significant additional action is needed to build an immigration system that meets our needs and lives up to our values.  

"The administration must continue to prioritize immigration improvements in 2022, and it should work with Republicans and Democrats in Congress to achieve them."
