"Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson Made Hateful Comments About LGBTQ People—Then Raked in the Cash."
-INDY Week, 2/23/22
Folks,
From the moment he entered public life, GOP Lt. Governor Mark Robinson has made a pattern of directing openly hateful and discriminatory comments toward the LGTBQ+ community — and since he became North Carolina’s second highest chief executive officer, it hasn’t stopped.
Ever since a video resurfaced of Robinson referring to LGBTQ+ people as “filth,” he has doubled down and defended his hateful and discriminatory comments.
Now, we just learned that Robinson raked in record contributions immediately after that video went viral last fall. His campaign’s best fundraising week in all of 2021 was the week after his hateful comments about homosexuality and transgenderism became public.
Mark Robinson’s bigotry is paying off — for him.
Mark Robinson may speak hate. But North Carolina is better than that.
In North Carolina, every single person deserves respect — not only because it's right, but because it's necessary to build the kind of future we want.
Throughout my career, I have fought to ensure that everyone can live their lives free of discrimination and that all are welcome. I will keep standing up for every North Carolinian. But too many Republican officials in our state, like our Lt. Governor, want to denigrate certain people and divide us, undoing all of the progress we have fought for.
Robinson’s harmful words and Republicans’ inaction continue to remind us why it’s so critical that we come together to keep fighting for equality and justice. Will you make a contribution today to support our work to defend equality?
