Dear John,
Today, we are thrilled to announce our seven 2022 state targets! This year, we’ll be targeting strategic state legislative races in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Georgia.
It’s no secret that the midterm elections this year will be pivotal for the health of our democracy. Crucial federal, statewide, and state legislative seats will be up for grabs, and many who we elect this year will be in office during the critical post-2024 election period.
That’s why in 2022, we’re going all in on the fight to protect our democracy by building progressive power at the state level. Help us go big this year with a donation of $20.22 right now!

From voting rights to abortion access, Republican-controlled legislatures are aggressively pursuing a future where they can enact harmful and regressive policies. And, with Democrats in control of the federal level, it’s clear that the GOP is energized and laser-focused on winning back seats wherever they can.
It will take a tremendous amount of resources, energy, and attention to hold the line and make gains in our states this year. But at Sister District, we are ready to face the challenge head-on, and we have identified the states with the biggest opportunities for progressive change at the state legislative level.
We have carefully selected each of our 2022 target states by weighting towards:
- Competitive Senate, Congressional, Gubernatorial, and Secretary of State races with critical implications for the future of our democracy;
- Fairer maps where Democrats have a better chance to win this year and over the next decade; and
- Democratic incumbents in particularly vulnerable positions, where we must stave off Republican supermajorities in important battlegrounds.
Our work to persuade voters, send resources, and get people to the polls for state legislative candidates will also drive turnout at the top of the ticket in strategic and critical districts. We can win, but only if we work together to organize smartly, welcome new voters into the electoral process, and execute strong voter turnout programs.
Now is the time to start working towards the midterms in Arizona, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Nevada, and Georgia. We hope you’ll join us!

P.S. Please join us for the 5th Annual Sister District Summit THIS weekend! We’ll be featuring a keynote address from DNC Chairman Jaime Harrison, and other speakers like Congresswoman Barbara Lee, EMILY’s List President Laphonza Butler, and Voto Latino President Maria Teresa Kumar.
