Join WCV and help hold our leaders accountable No images? Click here John, We only have a few short weeks to push for change this legislative session. While we are halfway through the 60 day legislative session - there has been momentum for important environmental policies that will impact the wellbeing of our state. But when there are so many issues competing for legislators’ attention these priorities need advocates who will keep environmental concerns top of mind and moving forward. Alongside our partners in the Environmental Priorities Coalition we have worked to advance our shared priorities: salmon restoration and protection, transportation for all, closing the sprawl loophole in Washington’s Growth Management Act, and holding plastics manufacturers accountable. These are significant priorities that would help Washington state reduce carbon emissions by allowing better transportation options and planning, closing a decades-long loophole in the Growth Management Act, and setting the stage for a new chapter in salmon recovery. But they need advocates calling, texting, and amplifying support every step of the way. We have to work smarter and harder to move bills through multiple committees and floor votes. In the face of pressure to weaken or even prevent bills from passing, it's a vital reminder that people power matters. Together, we can set the stage for strong environmental leadership in the future. Sincerely, Kat Holmes Kat Holmes |
