Ask Congress to Support the Right Whale Coexistence Act

Dear John,

With fewer than 340 individuals remaining, North Atlantic right whales are in serious jeopardy of extinction, largely due to entanglement in fishing gear and vessel strikes. In July 2020, the International Union for Conservation of Nature uplisted them as "critically endangered" -- the designation closest to "extinct."

The Right Whale Coexistence Act (H.R.6785 / S.3664) has been introduced to help protect the highly imperiled North Atlantic right whale. This legislation would create a new grant program for collaborative projects among states, nongovernmental organizations, and industry leaders to reduce the impact of human activities on this critically endangered species.

Through innovation and collaboration, we can protect North Atlantic right whales, but we must act before it is too late.

What You Can Do

Please ask your US representative and senators to help save the North Atlantic right whale from extinction by supporting the Right Whale Coexistence Act (H.R.6785 / S.3664).([link removed])

Be sure to share this action alert with your family, friends, and co-workers, and encourage them to contact their legislators, too. Thank you for taking action on behalf of marine animals!

Sincerely,

Cathy Liss
President
