Folks, Terri’s work on voting rights is gaining national attention:
Terri needs your help: will you chip in $5 and join her in the fight for voting rights?
The Associated Press talked to Terri about the history of her district and the good, necessary work she has been doing to protect the right to vote for all citizens.
As the representative of the Nation’s Civil Rights District, Terri is carrying the baton from the Foot Soldiers of the Civil Rights Movement.
Her bill, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, would restore the original provisions of the Voting Rights Act to reinstate federal oversight over changes to voting laws.
Folks, in the fight for voting rights, old battles are truly becoming new again: SCOTUS gave a green light to the Alabama GOP’s gerrymandered districts, election officials in Texas are throwing out mail-in ballots at an unprecedented pace, the Senate is letting voting rights legislation sit on the floor, and more and more Republican legislatures across the country are changing their voting laws to restrict access to the ballot box.
Terri is leading the charge to stop these unlawful attacks on democracy, and she needs the support of this team to stay in the fight. Please, will you chip in and fuel Terri’s fight to protect and expand voting rights for future generations?
Thank you,
Team Sewell
