John –
There are over 21 million Black women living in America today, including Rep. Lucy McBath.
At this moment, there is not a single Black woman serving in the U.S. Senate. There has never been a Black female Governor elected in America. And there has never been a Black woman who has served as a Supreme Court Justice.
That last fact may change in the near future… Two years ago in a presidential debate, Joe Biden promised to appoint a Black woman to a Supreme Court seat if he was elected president. Now, a seat has been opened up by Justice Stephen Breyer’s retirement. Will you join us and add your name to our petition and ask that a Black woman be nominated to the Supreme Court? →

John, here’s a fact that may startle you, but shouldn’t surprise you: 108 out of 115 Justices that have sat on the Supreme Court in its 233-year history have been white men. Only five justices have been women. Only three have been people of color.
The Supreme Court sets a legal precedent on issues from voting rights to reproductive justice, labor rights, and so much more – and we know a more diverse composition of justices would result in more democratic decisions that reflect the wishes and opinions of all Americans.
That’s why we need to make our voices heard - it is long past time that a Black woman serves on the Supreme Court. John, will you add your name to our petition to ask for that change?
