We are up against an entire political party – now the Republican establishment – that has abandoned democracy. They called the violent insurrection at the Capitol "legitimate political discourse," they're passing laws left and right to make voting as difficult as possible, and all but a brave few have completely aligned themselves with the former president who tried to overturn a democratically-held election, including our own Mike Garcia.
John, while 2020 was the election of our lifetime – the truth is, so is 2022.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it. With an out-of-touch, conservative Supreme Court majority making the biggest decisions of our lifetime and our Democratic majorities hanging by a thread, I'm nervous about what the future holds for our nation.
But, I was nervous in 2020 as well, and you know what? Through perseverance, determination, and a whole lot of old-fashioned, grassroots organizing we prevailed.
I wouldn't be running if I didn't think it was possible to bring on another Blue Wave this year. I know we can do it but it's going to take even more energy and momentum than we had even in 2020. You came through before, and I know you'll do it again.
