Patriot, “It could never happen in America.” We say this when we hear about atrocities in corrupt Third World countries like Libya or Burundi. But what we are witnessing, right now, in Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s newly-minted dictatorship of Canada – militarized police horses trampling women, coffee shops shut down by the regime for the so-called “crime” of serving coffee to peaceful protesters, reporters isolated and kept away from the atrocities, citizens’ rights suspended on the pretext of a fake national emergency – could absolutely happen in America . . . if you and I let it. Think about it! Canada was a liberal democracy before Covid gave the government a pretext to suspend citizens’ rights. The United States was a constitutional republic before Covid gave the government a pretext to suspend citizens’ rights. The Prime Minister of Canada is a puppet who doesn’t know anything and thinks he knows everything. The President of the United States is a puppet who doesn’t know anything and thinks he knows everything. According to Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), it’s not hard to conceive Trudeau-style tyranny coming here since, “There are some emergencies in the U.S. that have been going on for many, many decades. And the president can just renew them every year.” Rand attempted to rein in this power under President Trump, and he’s pushing to rein it in again now. Last night, the Canadian Parliament rubber-stamped Trudeau’s “emergency” powers, giving him unchecked power to destroy Canadian citizens – even though the protests are winding down and the streets are clear. With Democrats loyal to Biden in the majority in both chambers of Congress and more than a few Republican senators with tyrannical impulses, like Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC), would there be enough authoritarian support to rubber-stamp the Biden regime declaring a similar “emergency?” Just look at what congressional Republicans have condoned with respect to the January 6th protesters, many of whom are rotting in Washington gulags without due process. Tomorrow, truckers are departing from California on an 11-day journey to Washington, D.C. Other impromptu convoys in other parts of the country will undoubtedly pop up as well. Do not be shocked if the Justice Department wages a campaign of terror against these peaceful protesters. And the United States has a much more sophisticated disinformation and propaganda apparatus than our friends to the north. Is there any doubt there will be covert government agitators, just as there were on January 6th and in the staged “kidnapping plot” of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer? It will almost certainly be another “shock and awe” campaign – to use the expression of a January 6th federal prosecutor. But there is one aspect of the Canadian government’s brutal response to the peaceful truckers’ protest that should alarm every American: the “de-banking” – the illegal freezing and seizure of the bank accounts – of the demonstrators and their supporters. This has shocking implications for free speech. In an instant, Canada went from a nation that honors free speech to a nation where the government can seize citizens’ property, savings, and livelihood for even donating to an effort whose viewpoints fall outside the accepted norm. We’re not talking about seizing the bank accounts of some drug kingpin. We are talking about the government taking everything from working-class families – just for supporting free speech. The chilling effect it will have is obvious – and that’s the point. This is not the quiet tyranny of the surveillance state that we’re all too painfully familiar with. This is in-your-face, brutal tyranny. In Canada. We need to proactively petition Congress right now to prevent a devastating loss of First Amendment rights we may never be able to regain. CLICK HERE to DEMAND Congress take action NOW to stop political “de-banking”: the financial destruction of dissident voices. Patriot, if it can happen in Canada, it can happen here. Unless millions of freedom-loving Americans like you and me stand strong and stop it. Over the years, Campaign for Liberty has punched back above our weight against statist lawmakers and their tyrannical advances. But we cannot win this critical battle without your support. Taking on the statists in D.C. is never easy . . . or cheap. But with your help, you and I can stop this madness before it escalates further. To be clear, the seizing of bank accounts of Canadian truckers and their working-class supporters was absolutely not a private decision by the banks. Consider the tweet of a liberal member of the Canadian Parliament, Mark Gerretsen. This government official claimed it is “false” that the government can seize the bank account of anyone involved in the protest. In truth, he says, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police advises the banks of “findings,” and it remains the responsibility of the banks to make the final decision of freezing accounts. In other words: “We’re not shutting down the bank accounts of political opponents; we’re just advising the banks of whose accounts it would be nice to have shut down!” The politician talks just like a member of the mafia. Of course, the entire crackdown on protests and civil disobedience is direct government action or rooted in government action – just like social media censorship. It’s critical we bombard Congress with concern about this, right now, because it’s an imminent threat that, until now, has had no organized opposition. This is not an issue that is on Congress’s radar – but it needs to be, because it’s taking off in Canada and soon to strike home. That’s why Campaign for Liberty is taking on this fight now. Because “de-banking” is actually one of the most brutal forms of tyranny. Destroying a man’s livelihood, confiscating his money and his ability to feed his family, is almost as bad as killing him. This is hard-core repression. And it could be coming here soon. In fact, it’s already happening to some degree with most major banks in the United States. These banks are using non-financial criteria – “environmental, social, and governance” (ESG) factors – to determine if you should be allowed to use their bank . . . or if you should be allowed to access your own funds! Now is the time to put your U.S. Representative and Senators on the record. Demand they answer: “What are you doing to stop the Executive Branch from gutting the First Amendment by allowing and even encouraging banks to freeze the accounts of political opponents?” If your congressmen are Republicans, we need them to know their constituents are alarmed about this issue and they need to address it and tell us where they stand – right now. Even if your congressmen are Democrats, they should be alarmed at the principle of free speech – which so many liberals once fought so hard to protect – is being swept away. Some might even recognize that the shoe could be on the other foot again someday. Either way, it’s critical we all contact our members of Congress and let them know the people are demanding protection from any possible government repression of our speech via the threat of a “Do Not Bank” list. Campaign for Liberty has created a hard-hitting petition to members of Congress you can send in seconds. Click here to petition your representative and senators in Congress to prevent a devastating loss of First Amendment rights. DEMAND Congress take action NOW to stop political “de-banking”: the financial destruction of dissident voices. We need Congress to hear the most public outcry possible on this issue before the Biden regime’s Justice Department takes a cue from Justin Trudeau. We need champions to get in front of this issue, we need conservatives and civil libertarians to stand up and speak out. First, they need to hear from us. Please send a message to your representative and senators by clicking any of the links above. It only takes a few seconds. And then, if you can, please consider making a most generous contribution to Campaign for Liberty. With your help, you and I can stop this madness before it escalates further. Whether you can make a contribution of $250, $500, $1000, or whatever you can afford, any contribution helps us reach and mobilize more people. Thank you for all that you do to save our Republic. For liberty, John McCardell Executive Director, Campaign for Liberty P.S. We can stop the forthcoming, brutal assault on the First Amendment, if only we speak up. Tell your U.S. Representative and Senators in Congress: Protect free speech and prohibit government-sponsored de-banking of dissent. And if you support Campaign for Liberty’s ongoing efforts to expose and stop this madness, please support us with a contribution. It’s the only thing that keeps us going.
