John,
With just 7 days left until the TX-28 primary, our campaign has been getting a lot of attention — so I thought I’d take a moment to share my story and why I’m running for Congress:
I was born and raised in the border town of Laredo, Texas. When my older sister needed urgent medical care that was only available in the United States, my parents took a leap of faith and immigrated here from Mexico to start a new life for our family.
My dad picked fruit and started his own trucking company to make ends meet and provide for our family. I saw firsthand that too many of the laws that are put into place don’t protect people who look like me.
That experience is exactly why I’m running. Politicians always claim to fight for families like mine. In my case, it’s a little different because I’ve lived the experience that many in my community are currently facing.
This campaign that we’re building is powered by the people — NOT corporations and special interests, so I’m relying 100% on grassroots supporters like you to help lead us towards the finish line. Will you contribute to help me defeat Henry Cuellar and make history in South Texas on March 1 by making a split donation between my campaign and the Working Families Party?

I’m running because there are millions of families like mine — working-class and immigrant families — but so few people who look like us are in the halls of power.
I’ll admit — this race won’t be an easy one to win. In fact, it may be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But I’m confident that with your unwavering support, and with enough resources, we can get the job done. We came within an inch of defeating Henry Cuellar in 2020, but this time, we’re in a better spot to win.
