The Arctic is warming rapidly. Fossil fuel companies are to blame. And ConocoPhillips wants to put "chillers" in the ground under its proposed drilling project so the permafrost won't melt while they pump out millions of barrels of oil. It's totally dystopian.

Friend,
Here's the deal: In late 2020, the Trump administration approved the Willow Master Development Plan—a 30-year plan to drill for fossil fuels in sensitive Alaskan ecosystems and near Indigenous communities. It would be the single largest oil extraction project currently proposed on U.S. public land.
Willow is deeply incompatible with President Biden's climate commitment to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. It's slated to pump nearly 600 million barrels of oil over three decades—that's roughly equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas pollution of a third of all coal plants in the country. If there were ever a project the Biden administration should reject on climate grounds, it's this one. (Trust me on this: I'm one of Evergreen's new Policy Leads, and I work on our Freedom From Fossil Fuels policy beat. Nice to meet you!)
And now, we have a rare chance to tell the government that directly. The Bureau of Land Management has opened a public comment period about Willow's environmental impact.
Will you sign a public comment speaking out against Willow? Just add your name, and we'll officially submit it on your behalf before the upcoming deadline!

Our fight for a just, livable clean energy future isn't just about passing legislation or urging executive action. It's about showing up at every opportunity and flexing our grassroots power for climate wins across all of the government.
Willow is an urgent threat to the future we're fighting for. This is our chance to shut it down and directly influence policy. Add your name to make an official comment today! (We have a pre-written comment ready for you, and we'll take care of officially submitting it before the approaching deadline.)
Thank you for taking direct action today,
Mattea Mrkusic
