John,
This past Saturday marked the beginning of National Future Farmers of America (FFA) Week, a time to celebrate all things blue and gold and the stories of Indiana’s future agricultural leaders.
Whether it’s through service projects or community gatherings, local chapters across the state will spend this week raising awareness of the role the National FFA organization plays in developing our future agricultural leaders and the importance of agricultural education.
It’s no secret that agriculture is vital to our state. The industry contributes an estimated $31.2 billion to the Hoosier economy alone! We have over 94,000 farmers in our state producing crops like corn and soybeans that make us the eighth largest agricultural exporter in the nation.
I am incredibly proud of our young Hoosier men and women that have made “Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve” a part of their lives, and I hope they all have a wonderful National FFA Week.
I hope you get the chance to attend a local event and learn about the important contributions our young Hoosier men and women are making to our agricultural world.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch
