Dear Friend,

David Bernhardt, President Trump’s Department of Interior (DOI) Secretary, is now using his position as Interior Secretary to promote the interests of past clients, notably Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA). This association represents oil companies like Shell, ConocoPhillips and Marathon Oil that have multibillion-dollar stakes in exploiting previously protected lands and waters.

We will not stand idly by as this blatant conflict-of-interest and abuse of power imperils our public lands, climate, and wildlife.

The rollbacks of public lands protections that Bernhardt green-lighted were done haphazardly and often without due process. Our climate is in a state of crisis, and some of our most iconic landscapes are at risk.

That’s why we are calling on Congress to investigate whether Interior Secretary Bernhardt violated the spirit or the letter of any ethics laws that limit federal officials’ interactions with and on behalf of former clients. Additionally, we demand Congress investigate past clients of David Bernhardt -- such as the IPAA -- to discern whether they purposely and knowingly took advantage of their relationship with the Interior Secretary for financial gain.

Sign the petition: Demand Congress hold DOI Secretary David Bernhardt accountable.
