Over 60% of smokers said they would quit smoking if a reduced nicotine policy was enacted

Despite the overall decrease in U.S. adult smoking rates, there are still an estimated 23 million adult smokers who want to quit but haven’t succeeded. According to new research from Truth Initiative, 62% of adult smokers said they would quit smoking if a proposed FDA rule limiting the level of nicotine in cigarettes went into effect.

Youth activists awarded inaugural truth IMPACT Scholarships

Ally Harrison of Baytown, Texas and Carlos Magdaleno of Santa Ana, California are the inaugural winners of the truth Impact Scholarship. The two scholarships, one $10,000 and one $5,000 scholarship, respectively, were given to the students for their exemplary community engagement and peer-to-peer advocacy abilities. In October, Ally and Carlos protested outside JUUL’s Washington, D.C. offices of JUUL as part of the truth National Day of Action.

Rhode Island – A judge refused to block Gov. Raimondo’s emergency public health order prohibiting the sale of flavored e-cigarettes, saying the state Department of Health was within its legal powers to rule flavored e-liquids and other vaping products an “imminent peril” to the public.

Washington – A judge rejected a request for a temporary restraining order against Gov. Inslee’s emergency ban on the sale of all flavored vaping products.

Woodland, California - The City Council passed an ordinance to prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products. The law will go into effect April 1 so local retailers can sell off their products.
