But our work is far from over – and we know that.

Dick Durbin

Hi John, it’s Tammy Duckworth.

I’m up for re-election and asking for whatever support you can spare, but I wanted to take the time to reach out and explain why I’m running for re-election.

When I was a kid, the company my dad worked for was sold. He lost his job and my family was eventually forced onto public assistance. My brother and I relied on reduced-price meals at our public school and we used food stamps—until they ran out towards the end of the month—to put dinner on the table. It was tough, and we probably wouldn’t have made it through without government support.

So when Senator Durbin encouraged me to run for public office, I dove right in to advocate for Veterans and working families. It’s been the honor of my life to serve alongside Senator Durbin and work for Illinoisans every day.

Now, as too many families in Illinois and across the country are struggling with higher costs and wages that aren’t keeping up, Senator Durbin and I are working for cheaper prescription drugs, more affordable health care and more support.

In the past year, we’ve made great progress with critical legislation like the American Rescue Plan, the bipartisan infrastructure law, and more. But our work is far from over – and we know that.

Can I count on you to split a contribution of $5 between my campaign and Senator Durbin’s right now to help us keep fiercely advocating for working families?

Especially now, your support means a world of difference.

Thank you,

Tammy Duckworth
