Ever since Imani out-raised Rep. Donald Payne Jr. 2 to 1 in her first quarter of fundraising, we knew that New Jersey’s corrupt political machine would paint a target on her back.
But, now that we’ve called them out for their blatantly sexist, classist, and racist attacks on Imani, they’re switching to subtler methods to try to undermine our campaign.
Just in the past month, they’ve sent machine operatives to crash our campaign events. They’ve tried to label Imani as nothing more than a Justice Democrat in their fundraising calls. And they’ve used their corporate sponsors to boost fundraising for our opponent.
This kind of petty gamesmanship just goes to show that New Jersey’s political machine and the Democratic establishment don’t care about serving our communities. All they care about is winning — upholding their own power and using that power to gain favor with corporate sponsors and high-powered lobbyists.
And they’re willing to do whatever it takes to undermine a proud progressive champion like Imani.
