The Texas Is Ready Coalition is composed of three organizations with a shared vision that every Texas youth deserves the information they need for a lifetime of healthy relationships and positive sexual health outcomes.
The Coalition provides support to School Health Advisory Committees in many districts and presents valuable information to community members around the state about the revisions to the sex education minimum standards.
Texas Is Ready, in partnership with the UTHealth School of Public Health has launched iCHAMPSS and will host a free webinar, highlighting the features of the tool, for Texas school districts on February 24, 2022 at 4 PM. Register here!
In addition, the Coalition is launching a learning collaborative for school districts and communities in Central and Houston, Texas. The purpose is to increase the shared body of knowledge pertaining to the steps necessary to successfully assess, implement, and maintain sexual health education curricula in schools, as well as ensure individual district readiness by the start of the 2022 - 2023 school year. The iCHAMPSS tool will serve as the foundational resource for the learning collaborative activities. If your school district would like to be considered for this opportunity, please fill out the interest form.
Lastly, the Coalition will host a virtual training for school districts in and around Waco, Texas. This offering will include a lecture on the new Health TEKS and Texas statute, as well as district-level assessments to gauge “readiness” to implement sexual health education in the 2022 - 2023 school year. Participating school districts will receive on-going virtual technical assistance to build their capacities to properly implement sex ed. If your Waco-area school district would like to participate, please contact Beth Olson at [email protected].
We hope to see you at our trainings!
