Monthly meeting March 10th: Electrifying Buildings, Getting the (Greenhouse) Gas Out
New York State has a draft plan for lowering the whole state’s greenhouse gas emissions. Buildings, large and small, give off 70% of NYC’s emissions. The plan is still a draft, so we have the opportunity to influence the final version. Is the plan adequate? Achievable? Just? How can we ensure that emissions fall to nearly zero by 2050? Come learn what the state has in the works and what we can do to make sure New York meets its climate goals.
Actions you can take today and on March 1st: Call on Mayor Adams to Enforce Local Law 97!
Local Law 97 is the most important city-level climate legislation in the U.S. It reduces emissions from our city’s largest polluters - large buildings - with penalties for non-compliant landlords. But this historic legislation will live only on paper unless we have the Mayor's assurance that Local Law 97 will be enforced and funded. The Mayor needs to hear from us! That’s why we are asking you to sign this petition and join us and advocacy partners on March 1st at 11 AM at One Bryant Park for a rally. Want to learn more about Local Law 97? Join our Wednesday Power Hour teach-ins and be a part of history!
