David Perdue Announces Vision For Statewide Term Limits
ATLANTA, GA – David Perdue, Trump-endorsed candidate for Governor, today announced his vision for term limits for all statewide elected officials in Georgia. Perdue is proposing a total of two four-year terms for all statewide elected officials, including the Governor.
“As an outsider, I firmly believe we need more citizen legislators, not career politicians. That’s why my first bill in the U.S. Senate was a term limits bill,” said David Perdue. “Career politicians caused the dysfunction we see today, and they won’t be the ones to fix it. For too long, 20-year career politicians like Brian Kemp have focused more on advancing their own self-interests than helping the people they were elected to serve. Georgians want tried and true leaders who will make waves to get things done. As Governor, I’ll work with the General Assembly to finally enact term limits for all statewide elected officials in Georgia.”
This is part of a bigger effort that Perdue has led since 2015 to enact term limits. On his first day as a U.S. Senator, Perdue introduced a term limits bill. Now, it's time for Georgia to lead by example. The Georgia State Senate has already passed a bill calling for a constitutional convention to propose term limits at the federal level. Perdue fully supports this effort, in addition to term limits for all statewide elected officials.
