While we were writing this email this morning, we got the news of the
shooting at a high school in Santa Clarita, California. There have been
365 mass shootings in the first 318 days of 2019, and this is the 38th
shooting at an American elementary or secondary school this year with a
death or injury (Gun Violence Archive).

It is more important than ever that we send progressive champions to
Congress who are willing to stand up to Republicans' gutless inaction.
And, it makes the conversation about endorsements and who we choose to
represent us even more important. [ [link removed] ]To take action, use our resource on
how to talk to your member of Congress about gun violence.

Sending our love to California.

Indivisibles,

We’ve talked to local groups, we’ve vetted candidates, and we’ve counted
the votes. And now, we’re excited to announce Indivisible’s first national
endorsements for the 2020 election cycle! These national endorsements
elevate the candidates preferred by the grassroots, showcasing a new class
of leaders who reflect the values of the Indivisible movement.

We’re so grateful to the local groups who nominated these candidates --
this process wouldn’t have been possible without their help every step of
the way. So without further ado, our first two nationally endorsed
candidates are:

We’re proud to announce our endorsement of Ammar Campa-Najjar (CA-50)
and Marie Newman (IL-03)

* Local groups endorsed [ [link removed] ]Marie Newman's 2018 bid and have been working
hard knocking doors for her ever since. She’s running for Congress
because she believes that healthcare is a right, that our economy
should work for everyone, and that immigrants should be treated with
dignity and respect. Marie has a long track record of advocacy at the
national, state, and local levels, informing a bold progressive vision
that puts working families first. We trust she’ll continue this fight
in the halls of Congress.

* In one of California’s reddest districts, Indivisibles have endorsed
[ [link removed] ]Ammar Campa-Najjar, a San Diego native, small business owner, and
former Labor Department official. Some may remember that we endorsed
Ammar for this seat in 2018, where he came within 4 points of victory.
He ran an informed and energetic campaign with countless town halls,
living room meetings, and voter meet-and-greets. We’re excited to
endorse him again and help flip the district once and for all.

We’ll see this work through -- by registering voters, door-knocking,
text-banking, and much, much more. Indivisibles can help change the power
landscape because endorsing progressive candidates is just the first
step.

These two candidates are great, but we know that there are many more races
out there where your groups’ endorsements, and a subsequent national
endorsement, can make all the difference. Much like Illinois and
California Indivisibles, your initiative could catapult a local race into
the national spotlight!

If your group has endorsed a candidate locally and would like to nominate
that candidate for a national endorsement, we’ll have six more waves of
endorsements announced in January, March, April, June, July, and October.
We’ll accept nominations on a rolling basis throughout the election cycle.
If you’d like to submit for the next round, [ [link removed] ]groups have until 11:59pm
ET on Monday, December 19 to submit candidates for the second round of
voting.

We’re thrilled that we’re able to get this
cycle’s endorsement program up and moving and excited to see what comes
next. As you can imagine, this has been a lot of work for both groups and
our staff, and over the next twelve months, we’ve budgeted nearly a
million dollars to support the program. [ [link removed] ]If you can, please consider
making a donation to support our Endorsements program and all of
Indivisible Action’s work!

Can you tell just how excited we are about this? We’re ready to watch your
groups throw all your political power behind these endorsed candidates,
and bring true, progressive change to your neighborhoods, districts, and
states!

In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
