Dear Friends:
Over the years, I have had the honor of serving with several Presidents – Democrats and Republicans – and have witnessed how vital it is to have a President who puts our country and the American People first. As Lincoln characterized his view of the charge of the President in his second Inaugural Address, bringing the American people together “with malice toward none and charity for all.”
In the Presidency or in the Congress, we are proud partisans as standard bearers for our political parties — but we must govern For The People, serving the entire country and making progress in the lives of the American people.
President George Washington cautioned in his Farewell Address that we must beware of political parties at war with their own government, warning that through parties, “cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government.”
The words of Washington and Lincoln echo with us still today, as we continue to build back better from the recent tumult that jeopardized our Democracy and temporarily imperiled our unbroken chain of peaceful transfers of power.
On this Presidents’ Day, we honor the Presidents who have shaped our country into a more perfect union during their sacred tenure and we celebrate that President Joe Biden is a man of empathy and courage who is working relentlessly to bring us out of the pandemic and into a stronger, healthier, and more equitable and prosperous American present and future For The People.
May God continue to bless this great nation, our men and women in uniform and their families, and you.
