** Facing Recall, Soros-Funded D.A. Gascón Backs Off Some Policies
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
The Los Angeles Times reported Friday ([link removed]) that L.A. District Attorney George Gascón ([link removed]) is scaling back on some of his most controversial policies as he faces a recall effort over lenient sentences and surging crime.
Gascón was elected in 2020 with the help of millions of dollars from left-wing billionaire financier George Soros ([link removed]) , who has backed radical prosecutors across the country as Democrats pursue an agenda of “criminal justice reform.” Gascón and his allies have presided over a crime wave that has overwhelmed many Democrat-run cities.
Gascón is now backing away from his policy on juvenile trials, and a few others. He issued a memo Friday allowing prosecutors to seek to try juveniles as adults and pursue life sentences against defendants in certain cases. Committees will be created to evaluate “extraordinary” cases where a defendant’s conduct might require harsher penalties.
Too little, too late.
Whenever Democrat leaders feel the heat of a threatened recall, they pretend to moderate the positions and policies that brought on the recall in the first place. Then, if and when the recall fails, they announce that their victory gives them a mandate to double down on the radicalism.

After Gascón won the 2020 general election, his first major meeting ([link removed]) as District Attorney-elect was with Black Lives Matter organizers. In a statement that he issued on November 6, Gascón alluded to a number of African Americans who had died in altercations with police officers in recent months – most notably George Floyd ([link removed]) in Minneapolis — and said ([link removed]) : “If we can use these very tragic, horrendous events to change the course of history in this country, I think that we will be honoring their lives.”
