Congratulations to Suzanne for correctly identifying the juvenile Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus). According to All About Birds ([link removed]) , this owl’s talons are incredibly strong - requiring a force of 28 pounds to open when clenched! This powerful predator can even take down birds and mammals larger than itself.
