Monday Nature Mystery

We are pleased to announce the winner of our Monday Nature Mystery, Suzanne Schneider! Please email us your snail mail address and preference for a hat or tote bag to: [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]?subject=Monday%20Nature%20Mystery%20Winner!)

Congratulations to Suzanne for correctly identifying the juvenile Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginianus). According to All About Birds ([link removed]) , this owl’s talons are incredibly strong - requiring a force of 28 pounds to open when clenched! This powerful predator can even take down birds and mammals larger than itself.
