Hello,

This week's edition will discuss the secret to a good life, men and divorce court, and what to do to be successful.

** The Secret to a Good Life
------------------------------------------------------------

What do you do if you're afraid and, to some degree, anxious?

You lay out what you're anxious about in detail. Ask yourself, "What is it that I'm afraid of that might happen?" Next, you deconstruct it into smaller increments - into hypothetically manageable problems - and then you expose yourself, gradually, to the thing that you're afraid of.

The effect of this is not that you become less afraid. What happens instead? You become braver. And that's not the same thing.

It's not like, "well, the world isn't as dangerous as I thought it was, you know, silly me." What happens, realistically, is, "yeah, the damn world's just as dangerous as I thought, or maybe it's even more dangerous than I thought. It turns out that there's something in me that responds to taking that on as a voluntary challenge and grows and thrives as a consequence."

To decide to move forward courageously into the land of the unknown. That's one of the secrets to a good life.

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson:

“In our culture right now, it seems the accuser has an almost untrammelled right to be believed."

Greg Ellis:

“I came back but like a phoenix from the flame. I was dead and buried; I have been to the edge of existential terror."

Dr. Jordan B. Peterson:

“Everyone deals with [imposter syndrome]. Every time you make a status shift as you move upwards, of course, you'll have impostor syndrome. When you first transition into a new role, you are an imposter because you're a beginner; you don't know what you're doing.

That doesn't mean you're a liar or a fake, and it doesn't mean you should presume more knowledge than you have. Nietzsche said, 'Every great man is an actor of his own ideal'. If you want to move to the next stage at some point, you have to act like you're already there when you're just barely started."

What To Do To Be Successful | Jordan B. Peterson

Dr. Peterson:

"So as far as I can tell, what you do is specify your long-term ideal; maybe you also determine a place you want to stay the hell away from so that you're terrified to fail and excited about succeeding because that's also useful. You want to establish goals that make you say, " Oh, if that could happen as a consequence of my efforts, it would be worthwhile." The question always is, why do something?"
