John,
St. Louis made national news when the Missouri State Health Department’s director said, in a sworn testimony, that his department tracked the menstrual cycles of Planned Parenthood patients. This information was used to find so-called “failed” abortions that resulted in patients returning to Planned Parenthood to complete the procedure.
The existence of the spreadsheet came to light during an administrative hearing in St. Louis to determine if the Planned Parenthood clinic should retain its state license to perform abortions. The document was obtained by Planned Parenthood through legal discovery.
Planned Parenthood is fighting tooth and nail to keep the last abortion clinic in Missouri open. This is just another example of the abuse of political power and trickery as the GOP anti-abortion effort strikes again.
When a state’s legislature is as red as Missouri’s and pockets of blue are small and few and far between, it’s the citizens who suffer. They feel powerless and, frankly, stripped of their rights.
