There is so much at stake for Michigan this year. While I want to focus on all the positive change and progress Michigan Democrats will bring, I need to be real and share with you what we’re up against.

The Michigan Republican Party has taken a turn and now emboldens what used to be extremist views. Here is just a handful of recent examples that show how critical it is for Democrats to win this November:

  • Michigan GOP Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock called Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist — our state’s first Black lieutenant governor — “scary” in a tweet after he posted a video wearing a surgical mask
  • Republican attorney general candidate Matt DePerno made a pledge to put Attorney General Dana Nessel in jail if he is elected
  • Republican gubernatorial candidate Ryan Kelley told Republicans to unplug voting machines if they feel suspicious at polls
  • Republican state senate candidate Mike Detmer told Republicans to bring guns to intimidate election workers when they count absentee ballots

Together, these Republicans are working to spread disinformation about our elections and are preparing to intimidate and threaten voters.

Republicans know that intimidating, suppressing, and lying to voters is the only way they can win.

Here’s how we’re going to win, Team: Michigan Democrats are going to build, prepare, train, educate, and recruit so that come November, we protect and turn out Democrats in record-breaking numbers that Republicans won’t stand a chance.

We need to all come together now to prepare for the work ahead. It’s going to take all of us to turn Michigan blue in 2022, and I need your help. Will you stand with Michigan Democrats by making a critical contribution to fuel our work today?
