Dear Friend,

We have a [ [link removed] ]really fun opportunity for kiddos of all ages in your family
and community!

Our youngest leaders know what’s right and wrong and what’s fair versus
unfair. To mark Equal Pay Day (March 15th) this year, we invite kids and
teens to create art that tells us how they feel about the wage gap that
directly undercuts and undervalues the critical work and brilliance of
women of color, mothers, and the LGBTQ+ community most acutely.

[ [link removed] ]CLICK HERE to learn more and enter the MomsRising Equal Pay Day Kids’
Art Contest!

>>> Since our movement is stronger when we all win, everyone who submits
artwork will receive a FREE equal pay sticker sheet from us.

Please share this art contest announcement with all of the youth in your
families and networks!

The deadline to submit artwork is Tuesday, March 8th at midnight EST. We
welcome drawings, paintings, collages, photography, digital art, and even
3-D sculptures and dioramas!

One pay equity champion from each age group will be selected to receive
special recognition and fun age-appropriate activist gear – a book for
learning and growing, picked by MomsRising staff, and a notebook for
dreaming up big plans to spark change.

We will also be delivering a copy of each piece of artwork to President
Biden, Vice President Harris, and each member of Congress in conjunction
with our push for the Paycheck Fairness Act and executive action on pay
equity.

even a coloring sheet if it’s helpful for artists ages 0-3.

As a whole, women of all races in the United States are paid 17% less than
men, making 83 cents for every dollar paid to men. The wage gap cannot be
explained by anything other than gender and race-based discrimination,
along with a heavy dose of bias against caregivers. [1]

For instance, data from 2019 shows that moms who work outside the home
full-time make just 75 cents for every dollar paid to fathers. But that
doesn’t tell the whole story. Nationwide, Latina mothers are paid just 46
cents; Native American mothers are paid just 50 cents; Black mothers are
paid just 52 cents; white mothers are paid just 71 cents; and Asian
American and Pacific Islander mothers are paid just 90 cents for every
dollar paid to white, non-Hispanic fathers due to structural racism. [2]
This is not okay! It’s unfair, but together we can fix this.

We know kids and teens have a lot to say about unfairness and we want to
lift up their voices for Congress and the White House to hear loud and
clear!

We can’t wait to see your creativity shine a light on pay equity!

Together, we are a powerful force for closing the wage gap.
