Check out the latest from NYGOP Volume 51 | February 20th, 2022 This Week at the NYGOP Follow Us On Social Media! Dear Friend, This week, New York Democrats held their convention and their brazen hypocrisy was on full display. Kathy Hochul and Democrats gathered together in a packed ballroom and there wasn't a mask in sight. They were all hugging and kissing each other while continuing to keep our children trapped under masks all day. As a parent, it's infuriating that our children continue to be treated as pawns in Democrats' obsession with total control and power. Their hypocrisy didn't stop there. They also came under fire for not including any Hispanic speakers from their program. The Party of virtue signaling and "inclusion" is nothing but talk. Democrats have long taken the minority vote for granted but what's worse is their policies that are hurting this community. Whether it's rampant inflation, their war on small businesses, or the public safety crisis they created, black and brown New Yorkers are suffering under Democrats' radical agenda. I can't wait until our NYGOP convention at the end of this month when our Party and candidates will put forth a bold agenda of safety, prosperity, and freedom for ALL New Yorkers. One-Party rule has been a disaster both nationally and here in our state. New York Republicans are fighting for a common-sense agenda that will put more money in people's pockets, return safety to our streets and put parents and kids before powerful special interests. Democrats are living in an alternate universe. They continue to double down on their failed policies refusing to listen to the people. We are going to deliver change in the form of a huge RED WAVE that will sweep across our state. With your continued support, together, we will save our state. Sincerely, Nick Langworthy NYGOP Chairman Win 2 FREE Tickets to the NYGOP Convention Gala with honored Guest Governor Kristi Noem Governor Noem is a rising GOP rockstar because she has proven how to run a state that is both free & prosperous. NYGOP Must See News: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s dad blasts NY Dems for snubbing Latinos at convention New York Post Meanwhile, the New York Republican Party sought to capitalize on the Latino community’s anger with the rival party. “The Democrat Party has totally taken the Hispanic community for granted. This glaring omission is proof of their disrespect, but what’s worse are their policies that are hurting this community,” said state GOP chairman Nick Langworthy. “We are enormously proud of our fast-growing support within the Hispanic community who are increasingly joining our ranks because they are outraged by Democrats’ radical agenda. We are going to work hard to earn every single vote with our message of safety, opportunity and freedom.” While Hispanic voters have been a reliable Democratic Party constituency, there’s been some drift to the GOP in recent elections. Former Republican President Donald Trump did better among Latinos in 2020 than he did in 2016. Darius Mungin, 20, is charged with attempted murder in an Aug. 30 shooting that happened outside a Manhattan deli. Court documents say he and a co-defendant got into an altercation with a 45-year-old man, who brandished a knife. They allegedly responded by drawing guns, and the 45-year-old was shot in the chest. An 81-year-old man at a barbershop across the street was shot in a foot. Arrested about two months later, Mungin had been held at Rikers Island since October. He has since been "victimized a number of times in six separate violent incidents," his defense lawyer, Brian Kennedy, told Fox News Digital on Monday. In one instance at the end of November, he was attacked by 12 inmates. Read Full Here The truth: 43% of people let go with no bail on a serious charge in NYC were rearrested — the ‘reform’ is a disaster New York Post In 2019, the state legislature passed the new bail laws (slightly amended in 2020) that essentially replaced bail with “non-monetary release.” Under this program, a judge who found that a defendant was a flight risk, or likely to not appear in court, could release the defendant on NMR, and place conditions on his release — pretrial services, pretrial supervision, passport surrender, maintain employment, for example. These are, essentially, the defendants who would have had bail set but are now released into the new NMR. When we look at the numbers from that perspective, they are truly alarming. The bail laws passed by the Legislature have been a disaster for New York state and particularly New York City. Consider: In New York City between July 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021, 26,535 people were arrested for a felony. 69% of them, 18,239, had a prior conviction or a pending case. 4,062 of these defendants were released on non-monetary release. Of the 4,062 released on NMR, 1,737, or 43%, were rearrested while their case was pending. Think about what that means. A defendant who has a prior conviction or a pending case gets arrested for a felony. A judge reviews his record and finds that he is a risk of fleeing. The judge cannot set bail and releases the defendant on non-monetary conditions. Almost half of them, 43%, get rearrested while their case is pending. Cuomo, who exited CNN last December, is accused of assaulting a temporary ABC employee in 2011 after she turned down his sexual advances, The New York Times reported. A lawyer representing the woman sent a letter detailing the allegation to CNN shortly after the network suspended Cuomo for allegedly aiding the defense of his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, after he faced sexual misconduct accusations. Read Full Here Thank Dems’ catastrophic climate policy for skyrocketing energy bills New York Post Op-Ed by NYC Council GOP Leader Joe Borelli It turns out I am just one of millions of middle-class schlubs in New York whose wallets are lighter this winter thanks to the Democratic Party’s catastrophic climate policy — and my humble 40% increase is nowhere near some of the triple-digit horror stories out there. If you listen to Con Ed, the spike in your bill is a direct consequence of the rising cost of acquiring natural gas, due to its global supply and demand. The past few months, the commodity price has hovered between $4.00 and $6.00/MMBtu, which are averages we haven’t seen since the 2008 financial crisis. It would be criminal not to mention that President Joe Biden scrapping the Keystone pipeline and pausing new oil and gas leases his first week in office have contributed. But for New Yorkers, the biggest culprit is closer to home. Read Full Here Clinton campaign paid to 'infiltrate' Trump Tower, White House servers to link Trump to Russia, Durham finds Fox News Lawyers for the Clinton campaign paid a technology company to "infiltrate" servers belonging to Trump Tower, and later the White House, in order to establish an "inference" and "narrative" to bring to government agencies linking Donald Trump to Russia, a filing from Special Counsel John Durham found. Durham filed a motion on Feb. 11 focused on potential conflicts of interest related to the representation of former Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann, who has been charged with making a false statement to a federal agent. Sussmann has pleaded not guilty. The indictment against Sussmann, says he told then-FBI General Counsel James Baker in September 2016, less than two months before the 2016 presidential election, that he was not doing work "for any client" when he requested and held a meeting in which he presented "purported data and 'white papers' that allegedly demonstrated a covert communications channel" between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, which has ties to the Kremlin.
